Bloody Beetroots

1..........2........... Woop... Woop. At last the Venom mask wearing Italian Hardcore DJ's have graced Australia's sandy shores. The Bloody Beetroots have played in multiple cities across the coast and have caused more then a riot at their gigs. One of their newest releases "Warp 1-9" is a chronically epic assault on the senses. The sounds are so desensitising on the drop that one can not fully appreciate what they have to offer on the first listen. It's addictive and is the future of hardcore house. Cause a Ruckus.

Apricot Rail Album Launch

Apricot Rail release their self titles debut album tonight at Mojos. Their sound has been described by some as the music to accompany a time-lapse Belgian art-house film about clouds or migrating ducks. I just think their music takes you to a nicer place. Should be a good night.

What I've Been Listening To

Here are some pretty decent tunes that have been getting much love in a house on a street in a town i'm from. Something for everyone. Maybe.

I bought a pair of jeans the other day. Came with some free tracks for download. Does that give jeans cred? Would you buy jeans that had music in them/on them/under them? What if music came with free jeans for download? Something to think about.

Anyway, didn't expect much at all. Pleasantly surprised. From a band called Pets. They're from Storsveden, Sweden - if you didn't know. Kind of upbeat indie-pop that reminds me of the best bits of Sesame Street. Check out their myspace if you're a fan.

Thanks also to two friends. One's tall and trying to get big. The other is already big and trying to get tall (check out frindsofben). The tall one showed me this track. We put it one repeat and drove up and down George Street on Saturday night. It was fun.

The big one showed me this pretty sweet guy way before it was cool to like Jewish hip-hop/reggae. His new song is a cracker. Let's have a J.

Finally, one for the weekend. Actually, i'm a student, so basically this means any day of the week. Sucked in 9-5. Will probably drive up and down King Street with this one on Saturday night. A bit more edgy than Biggie. Maybe it's the Brooklyn based, Warp Records influence you can hear in the background if you listen close enough. Sorry i'm a bit late with this one. I'm selfish.

Enjoy. Love.

Wolf and Cub- All Claws Out

Wolf and Cub's newest album 'Science and Sorcery' quite simply put, is a very compelling piece of work. The psychedelic rock act's newest album has been reinforced with a range of unique sampling and drum pieces which combine to create an exhilarating experience. 'The Loosest of Gooses' is a fast paced and in your face track. One may wonder why this tune has such a peculiar title, but upon hearing it, it will no doubt become obvious why Wolf and Cub picked the aptly named title. A true let's get smashed and kick on anthem. Good times to be had.
